Dr Haymanot Baheru is a qualified housing law specialist with practical experience gained from several legal branches and academia.
She has a unique knowledge of the Swedish rent control system being the first legal researcher to publish the first extensive PhD thesis on rent control and rent setting legislation in Sweden. As a commercial law specialist, she has a unique understanding of the interface between market and law. Her experience from private practice, legislative bodies, international organizations and qualified legal research gives her a unique profile.
She has repeatedly demonstrated integrity and original thinking in intricate matters as well as ability to tackle complex legal issues. She has shared her expertise through presentations and publications on diverse issues in dispute resolution, housing law, human rights and market law.
Dr Baheru is also a researcher in commercial law, specialized in housing markets. As a member of the legal faculty at Stockholm University, she teaches in alternative dispute resolution as well as real property law. She has enjoyed success as an educator in law. She has successfully coached student teams to final rounds in ICC’s international commercial mediation competition as well as supervised award-winning master theses in law on several occasions.
